Tripura Nadwar South Zonal Committee calls for action to repeal Waqf Bill

Agartala, 11th April 2025:   Muslim religious and social organizations, along with opposition parties, are mobilizing against the Waqf Bill with demonstrations being organized across the country.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Maulana Zakir Hossain Aljalili, Secretary of Tripura State Nadwar and Convener of the South Zonal Committee announced that Tripura would actively participate in the nationwide protests.

Maulana Zakir Hossain urged mosque attendees across the state to wear black clothing and engage in discussions after Friday prayers to express their dissent. “We call on every devotee to unite in this movement and raise their voices,” he stated.

In support of the initiative, Nagarik Adhikar Mancha has organized a protest march and demonstration at Sonamura Shopping Complex on April 12 at 2 PM. The Nadwar South Zonal Committee has expressed its complete backing for the Mancha’s efforts. “This is a collective movement demanding justice, and we seek everyone’s full cooperation,” said Nadwar leaders.

Among those present at the press conference were Maulana Delwar Hossain, a member of Tripura State Nadwar, Maulana Selim Mia, President of the All India Milli Council Sepahijala District Committee, Billal Mia, member of Sepahijala District Committee, and Maulana Burhan Uddin, Pramod Nagar Regional Nadwa Secretary, among others.
