Manipur pays tributes to King Narsingh

 The 175th Death Anniversary of Maharaj Narasingh was observed on Friday at Kangla Fort in Imphal.

Maharaj Narasingh, a monarch of Manipur, passed away on April 11, 1850. His death anniversary is observed annually on April 11 as a day of historical and cultural significance in Manipur.

He is remembered for his leadership during the First Anglo-Burmese War and his efforts in restoring Manipur’s sovereignty. His death anniversary continues to be a significant occasion for the people of Manipur to honour his legacy.​

Special Commissioner (Art and Culture), M. Joy Singh paid tribute to the revered and valiant Maharaja Narsingh on the occasion of his 175th death anniversary. He noted that the state is honouring the braveheart today with a ceremonial gun salute at his grave.

The Commissioner urged everyone to take this sacred and solemn day as an opportunity to pray to the Almighty and seek the blessings of the late Maharaja, so that peace and harmony may continue to prevail across the state.

The observation featured traditional rituals, including a performance of Shree Shree Govinda Jiu Jalakeli Pala led by Maharajkumari Hemamanjuri (Sanatombi), floral tributes, a guard of honour, a gun salute, Tarpon Katpa at Nungjeng Pukhri , Kangla etc.
