Agartala, 11th April 2025: In a significant push to strengthen Tripura’s economy through agro-based industries, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday announced the state government’s plan to expand rubber cultivation across 20,485 hectares of land and establish 10 new rubber processing centres.
Speaking at a development program in Khowai district, Dr. Saha emphasized the BJP-led government’s commitment to sustainable development and people-centric governance. “Our government is working relentlessly to boost the economy and empower rural communities. Expanding rubber cultivation and setting up new processing centers will create new livelihood opportunities for thousands,” said the Chief Minister.
The announcement was made during a series of inaugural events in Khowai, including the opening of the newly constructed Teliamura Motor Stand and the virtual inauguration of three upgraded schools—Teliamura English Medium Class XII School, Kabi Nazrul Vidya Bhavan, and Mungiabari Class XII School.
At a separate event held at Kalyanpur Higher Secondary School, Dr. Saha also inaugurated its new two-storey building and launched additional infrastructure projects virtually, including the Kalyanpur BDO residence and the new building of Birchandrapur Higher Secondary School. Two blood collection vans were also flagged off as part of the health infrastructure drive.
Dr. Saha highlighted the government’s development trajectory across all sectors. “In Dharmanagar alone, I recently inaugurated 46 projects. Today’s inaugurations reflect our mission of balanced development across Tripura. We are also addressing teacher shortages and prioritizing quality education through systematic recruitment,” he said.
He added that over 16,000 government jobs have been provided in the last seven years, with more on the horizon. The Chief Minister also cited major infrastructure projects underway in the region, including the construction of NH-208 from Khowai to Teliamura and land acquisition for the four-lane expansion of NH-08 from Mungiakami to Champaknagar.
“From education to agriculture, health to transport—Tripura is witnessing holistic progress under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said, calling the current government a truly “compassionate and people-oriented administration.”
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, Khowai Sabhadhipati Aparna Singh Roy, and senior officials from various departments.
