Agartala, 13th April 2025: Tripura Police on Sunday presented seven Bangladeshi nationals before the court after their arrest for illegally crossing the international border into Tripura on Saturday night in Belonia, South District.
According to police sources, the seven individuals entered India from Bangladesh via the Amjad Nagar area near Belonia. Acting on a tip-off, the Belonia Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Rishabh, along with Belonia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shibu Ranjan Dey, initiated a search at the Naka Checking Point in the Manurmukh Tabla Chowmuhoni area. There, they stopped an Eco Maruti car, which was found to be carrying the seven individuals. Upon interrogation, they admitted to being from Bangladesh.
The arrested nationals claimed that they were assisted by a local individual in exchange for money to cross the border. The police have filed a case and sought a five-day police remand for further investigation.The arrested individuals have been identified as Robin Hossain (29), Mohammad Rafi (25), Amjad Hossain (27), Shahidur Jjaman (28), Fazzal (24), Rehan Mollah (21), and Gias Uddin (35).
Police also seized seven Android phones, a keypad phone, Rs 1.64 lakh in Indian currency, and 1,01,935 Bangladeshi Taka from them.
