Agartala, 20th April 2025:   Govinda Tripura Para Anganwadi Center under the Hrishyamukh Assembly Constituency found itself underwater on Sunday morning following just a brief spell of rain, triggering alarm among local residents.

The unexpected waterlogging has raised serious concerns over the quality of recent infrastructure work in the area, particularly pointing fingers at the National Highway Construction Agency. Villagers allege that unscientific and substandard construction of a nearby road has led to water stagnation in the Anganwadi premises—an issue that was previously unheard of in the locality.

“This area never faced flooding like this before. The roadwork has clearly been carried out without proper planning,” said a local resident, expressing the growing frustration among community members.

The flooding has not only disrupted daily operations but also posed a grave threat to early childhood education in the region. Parents fear that continued rain, especially during the approaching monsoon season, could render the center completely unusable, depriving tribal children of crucial early learning opportunities.

The Anganwadi Center, a lifeline for underprivileged children in the tribal belt, was established to provide foundational education and care. With floodwaters already seeping in during light showers, there is now genuine fear that heavier rainfall could leave the facility submerged for days or weeks.

Despite the gravity of the situation, residents claim there has been no official response or inspection from the administration so far. The lack of action has fueled resentment, with community members demanding immediate intervention and accountability from authorities.

As the monsoon season begins, villagers are urging the administration to act swiftly to prevent long-term damage to the center and ensure uninterrupted education for their children. “This is not just about water entering a building. It’s about our children’s future,” a concerned villager remarked.
