Agartala, 20th April 2025:  With the arrival of Baishakh, the festive spirit is once again sweeping across Tripura as the state prepares to celebrate Baba Garia Puja, the most important cultural and religious festival of the indigenous communities. Observed every year on the 7th of Baishakh, Garia Puja is marked with reverence, rituals, and vibrant festivities throughout the state.

From urban centres to remote villages, widespread enthusiasm surrounds the celebrations, with community participation adding to the grandeur of the occasion. In Agartala, extensive preparations are underway at prominent puja venues including Nazirpukur Puja Committee, Prabhat Chandra Roy Puja Committee, KBC Puja Committee, and Pragati Play Center Puja Committee, among others.Special puja rituals are also being organized at the Netaji Club under the Abhaynagar Bridge. Traditionally accompanied by a local fair, the organizers have announced that this year’s fair will be scaled down due to ongoing developmental work in the Katakhal area. Despite the logistical challenges, the spirit of Gariya Puja remains undeterred. Cultural performances, traditional music, and community feasting are expected to continue as part of the celebration, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Tripura’s tribal communities. Baba Garia Puja will be celebrated tomorrow with full religious fervour and traditional rituals.
