UN Secy General Guterres condemns ‘armed attack’ in Pahalgam

Date:

The UN Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the “armed attack” in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed at least 28 lives.

UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, responding to inquiries on Tuesday, emphasised the Secretary-General’s condemnation of the attack.

“Mr. Guterres extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” said Dujarric, underscoring “that attacks against civilians are unacceptable under any circumstances.”

The UN statement also sought to highlight Kashmir as a disputed area between India and Pakistan. India has said that following revocation of Article 370 from J&K, there is no question of it being under any kind of dispute, and that the UN has no jurisdiction over Kashmir.
