Agartala Nov 03: In a joint operation by police and BSF, a large quantity of illegally stocked liquor and firecrackers was recovered in Boxanagar.
A few days ago because of the cyclone Sitrang, the Kali Puja and Diwali celebration was hampered and the BSF was on duty at the border, following which goods could not be smuggled to Bangladesh. And this may be the reason why these foreign liquor and firecrackers are stocked in various godowns of established traders in North Kalamchoura.
Based on secret information, a joint operation was conducted by BSF and police personnel in five godowns, including the shop of Biplab Sarkar, in North Kalamchoura Bazar under Kalamchoura police station. The raid recovered a large quantity of banned firecrackers. Firecrackers worth about Rs 50 lakh and foreign Liquor were recovered. Officers of 150 Battalion BSF searched for a long time in the godowns along with the shops and surrounding areas.
150 Battalion BSF G Branch, DCG, Company Commander of Boxnagar BOP Vinod Devarani, Company Commander of Batadola BOP Ashok Mediwal, Additional Superintendent of Police of Sipahijla District Sabbir Ahmed, OC of Kalamchoura Police Station Bishnupada Bhowmik, SI David Darlong, and others led the operation.About 47 big cartoons of firecrackers, 152 bottles of liquor, 100 Beers were recovered.
