Farmers receives Rs 243 crore for selling paddy to govt at MSP: Manoj

Agartala: November 10.  Food and civil supply minister Manoj Kanti Deb today said that the state government has produced 1 lakh 30 thousand 721 MT paddy at MSP as a result, Rs 243 crore 99 lakh has been provided to the farmers.

Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Manoj Kanti Deb inaugurated a food go down with capacity of 500 MT at Belbari of Jirania sub-division today through a small programme.

The food go down has been built at the cost of 1 crore 79 lakh rupees allotted from central government’s Storage Infrastructure Development Fund.

The Food Minister said, “The present government has been working towards development of tribal areas from the beginning. It was possible to normalize the transport of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and kerosene, besides strengthening the public distribution system during the period of the present government. Under the same scheme, two food go downs of 1,000 MT capacity in Santirbazar at the cost of 2 crore 52 lakh rupees and of 500 MT capacity in Ganganagar of Ambassa at the cost of 1 crore 79 lakh rupees will be inaugurated in few days”.

He also said; there are 136 food go downs with 75 thousand 400 MT capacity under the state government and 7 food go downs with 42 thousand MT capacity under FCI at present under public distribution. “So far, 1 lakh 30 thousand 721 MT paddy was procured at MSP in the state with government’s initiative. As a result, 243 crore 99 lakh rupees has been provided to the farmers. Paddy will be procured at Rs. 20.40 in the present Kharif season from the farmers. One Nation, One Ration Card scheme is rapidly being implemented in the state. Sugar, dal, tea are being given at ration shops presently. Steps are being taken to make soya chunks, cooking oil and spice powders available at ration shops. 250 new ration shops have been started recently. All of them are being managed by women”, said the minister.Welcome speech was delivered by Special Secretary of the department Dr. Sandeep R. Rathore. He said, 99.49% of ration cards have been linked with Aadhar cards in the state.
