Agartala, 14th May 2025: The CPI(M) Madhupur Local Committee escalated its campaign to address longstanding concerns in several wards under Kayerdhepa Gram Panchayat this afternoon. As part of its phased movement, the committee submitted an initial deputation to the Secretary of the Panchayat, highlighting key demands and seeking immediate intervention.
The Secretary assured representatives that issues within his jurisdiction would be addressed, while those beyond his purview would be escalated to higher authorities. The committee had previously launched an awareness drive, putting up posters in local markets and public spaces to inform residents about their demands. In the second phase of their movement, deputations are being submitted across various Panchayats, intensifying pressure on the administration.
Party leaders warned that if the demands remain unfulfilled, they will mobilize residents through processions and public sit-ins. Should grievances persist, the movement will escalate further with a proposed Panchayat encirclement program.
The deputation today was attended by several CPI(M) leaders including Sepahijala district committee member Hiranmoy Narayan Debnath, Bishalgarh divisional committee member Satyendra Deb along with Ajmir Hossain, Anil Debnath and Tapan Das. Following the deputation, Hiranmoy Narayan Debnath emphasized that deteriorating roads remain the region’s most pressing concern. He questioned how the local MLA navigates the poor conditions, expressing doubts about her engagement with the affected areas.
Debnath further criticized the government’s inaction, stating that essential road repairs—originally undertaken by the previous administration—remain neglected. He also urged immediate activation of the Elai machine in Kamthana Ward No. 2, timely distribution of fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides to farmers through the BLW office, and expedited relief for those still suffering from past flood damage.
