Agartala, 19th May 2025:  A wave of panic has gripped residents of Lankamura Karmakar Para and Lankamura School Para following a daring robbery late last night. A gang of thieves targeted two households, making off with approximately seven ‘Bhoris’ of gold ornaments and Rs 50,000 in cash.

It is reported that the thieves raided the house of Jiban Shil in Karmakar Para, looting about Rs 1.50 lakh along with gold ornaments. The house of Sabitri Deb in School Para also fell victim to the robbery, with valuables stolen. In response to the incident, Barjala MLA Sudip Deb expressed deep concern over security arrangements and the rising issue of drug addiction, which he suggested might be contributing to increasing criminal activities in the area.
