Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday criticised senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for questioning the central government over its decision to alert Pakistan ahead of Operation Sindoor.
“Why did the government alert Pakistan before undertaking Operation Sindoor?” Gandhi had asked.
Shinde expressed his displeasure over the comment and claimed that Gandhi’s question on why the government alerted Pakistan ahead of Operation Sindoor showcased his distrust in our soldiers.
“This is an issue regarding our country’s security. It is a matter of the country’s security. Therefore, raising such questions on our country and our soldiers is unfortunate and reprehensible,” he said.
The military operation carried out by the Indian Armed Forces was aimed at avenging the deaths of 26 people, many of them tourists, by Pakistani terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22, he said.
In the aftermath of the attack, India initiated ‘Operation Sindoor’, which included a series of coordinated strikes on Pakistani terror camps. When Pakistani forces escalated the conflict by targeting civilian infrastructure, the Indian Army and Air Force responded by striking military installations in a highly successful counter-offensive.UNI SP ANV SS
