Home Ministry officials take stock of Manipur situation

 A team of the Union Home Ministry led by Home Secretary Govind Mohan has reviewed the ground situation in Manipur for two days beginning June 2. A state information official said the team visited various camps in about three districts to see the activities and relief measures taken up for the Internally Displaced Persons.

The team met the displaced persons in Churachandpur district. During a visit to a relief camp at Mekola Gulap Higher Secondary School in Imphal West district, the displaced persons expressed desire to return to their original home. They also told the Central team about the medical facilities and limited government assistance. At Kangpokpi district, an ambulance was given for the displaced persons.

Discussions were also held about Indo-Myanmar border fencing, which was opposed by various organizations, especially Kuki and Naga outfits.
