Agartala, 11th June 2025 : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly criticized Tipra Motha’s recent movement demanding the expulsion of infiltrators in certain areas of Tripura calling it a “self-contradictory movement” that threatens the unity and harmony of the state.
In a statement issued today, the CPIM accused the BJP-led central and state governments of forcibly pushing Bengali-speaking Muslims to Bangladesh without verification following the extremist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam. “Even genuine citizens are not being spared,” the party alleged.
The CPIM further condemned the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating that it “nullifies the Indira-Mujib and Assam Accords, which were meant to curb infiltration.” The party questioned Tipra Motha’s alliance with the BJP arguing that if the group is truly against illegal infiltration, its partnership with the ruling party contradicts its stance.
The statement also criticized Tipra Motha’s governance in the Autonomous District Council (ADC), claiming that the tripartite agreement signed for ADC development has not been implemented despite more than a year passing. “Tipra Matha has failed to protect the interests of the people,” the CPIM asserted.
Additionally, the CPIM accused Tipra Motha of diverting public attention from key issues by focusing on matters such as Roman script adoption and symbolic protests. “Locking government offices and reopening them themselves is nothing but an attempt to mislead the people,” the party stated.
The CPIM urged the people of Tripura to prioritize livelihood, democracy, and public safety over divisive movements. “Instead of falling victim to misguided protests, citizens must unite to protect their rights,” the statement concluded.
The party also reiterated its demand for proper identification and deportation of infiltrators.
