Man found dead at Charilam; Police investigating circumstances

Agartala, 17th June 2025:   A tragic incident took place near Charilam Class XII School, where a man was found dead in his home under circumstances pointing to suicide. The deceased identified as 50-year-old Kinkar Debnath was found by his wife upon her return from work.

It is reported that Debnath’s wife Aarti Debnath had been engaged in NREGA work when the incident took place. Upon finding her husband hanging in the house, she broke down in grief drawing the attention of neighbors who rushed to the scene.

Debnath, who had two daughters now married, reportedly had no known disputes with his wife leaving the cause of his drastic action unclear. Authorities from Bishalgarh police station responded promptly, transporting the body to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital for an autopsy. The remains will be handed over to the family upon completion of formal procedures.

The sudden death of Debnath has cast a pall of sorrow over the local community, with residents expressing shock at the incident. Police are continuing their investigation to determine any underlying causes behind the tragedy.
