Agartala Dec 06: Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, fondly known as Babasaheb, is known as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, said Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday.
Tripura BJP leaders including Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha paid rich tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 67th death anniversary.
The party’s Tapshili Jati Morcha organized a rally and the portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar was garlanded amid a ceremony in front of the Pradesh BJP Office in Krishnanagar.
Remembering the contribution of the Indian jurist, Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha urged upon the youths of the state to gain more knowledge on DR Ambedkar’s life so that it can guide them towards an enlightened future.
He said, “DR BR Ambedkar was the architect of the Indian Constitution. He was also among the seven members of the drafting committee who prepared a draft of the Constitution of independent India. Babasaheb was a well-known politician and an eminent jurist. Ambedkar’s efforts to eradicate social evils like untouchability and caste restrictions were remarkable”.“He fought for the economic and social empowerment of Dalits in the country, eradicating untouchability and promoting gender equality. Ambedkar’s whole life and mission was a practical contribution to humanistic Buddhist education in India and not just intellectual and philosophical” he added.
The chief minister further said, the principles of Dr BR Ambedkar will always be a guiding light”.Apart from the chief minister, Mayor of AMC, Dipak Majumder, Dy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy and other leaders of BJP remained present at the program.Meanwhile, in a separate program, Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs paid tribute to Dr. BR Ambedkar on his 67th death anniversary.The minister garlanded the statue of Ambedkar in front of Ujjayanta Palace in the heart of capital city in presence of MLA Dilip Das, MLA Rebati Das, MLA Krishnadhan Das and other dignitaries.
