Train mows down man at Chandrapur in Udaipur, police begins investigation

Agartala, 1st July 2025:   A 62-year-old man was tragically killed after being run over by a train along the Chandrapur railway line in the Udaipur subdivision.

The deceased has been identified as Jagabandhu Debnath, a resident of Chandrapur Garjantila (Shil Tilla). According to preliminary information, Debnath had ventured out early in the morning to collect medicinal leaves, a regular routine for him when the fatal accident occurred.

Local residents found the body lying along the railway track and promptly alerted the authorities. A police team from the nearest outpost rushed to the spot and recovered the body, which was subsequently sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the sequence of events and determine whether the incident was purely accidental or involved other circumstances.
