5 delightful reasons to watch ‘Disenchanted’

Date:

After a long wait, ‘Disenchanted’, Disney’s sequel to the delightful hit ‘Enchanted’, has finally made its way to Disney+ Hotstar.

The all-new live-action, musical comedy picks up 15 years after the original, bringing back the heart-warming story of the lovely maiden from the fairy tale world of Andalasia, who finally found her Prince Charming in the kingdom of New York City.

Directed and choreographed by Adam Shankman and produced by Barry Josephson, the musical forays into escapism and joy while dealing with real-world issues. If you treasured the modern classic storytelling of a fairytale in ‘Enchanted’, it’s time for you to put on fair lights, snuggle up and get set to return to the delightful world of Andalasia with ‘Disenchanted’ and here are five reasons for you to this:

1) A story with a twist:

It has been more than ten years since Giselle and Robert wed, but Giselle has grown disillusioned with life in the city, so they move their growing family to the sleepy suburban community of Monroeville in search of a dreamier life. Frustrated that her happily ever after has not been so easy to find, she turns to the magic of Andalasia for help, accidentally transforming the entire town into a real-life fairytale and placing her family’s future happiness in jeopardy. Now, Giselle is in a race against time to reverse the spell and determine what happily ever after truly means to her and her family.

2) Reunion of the dream cast:

The sequel feels like a nostalgic reunion, with the ensemble cast from Enchanted reuniting to pen yet another page of Giselle’s fairytale. Amy Adams leads the way as a star reprising her role as Giselle. Meanwhile, Patrick Dempsey returns as Robert, the real-world man who captured Giselle’s heart in the first film and James Marsden as Prince Edward, Giselle’s love interest from the animated land of Andalasia.

Idina Menzel also returns as Nancy, the dressmaker who fell in love with Prince Edward and moved to the animated world of Andalasia Joining them are new cast members Maya Rudolph as the new villain Malvina and Jama Mays, and Yvette Nicole Brown as Ruby and Rosaleen, along with Gabriella Baldacchino as Robert Philip’s teenage daughter Morgan.

3)The spellbinding music:

Peppered with an array of original songs, the music of Disenchanted will stay with you. With music by Oscar-winning Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, the movie is bound to take the audience on an enthralling musical journey with seven all-new original songs.

4) Idina Menzel finally gets her own song:

The Tony Award winning performer Idina, considered one of her generation’s finest stage musical actors and singers, will finally get her own song, and fans will get to know her vocal prowess.

5) Dancing in the street:

The dances play a big part in the film’s narrative and are especially spectacular, with director Adam Shankman playing the choreographer as well. Every dialogue, expression and scene in the movie will make you feel like dancing all the way to happiness.

Watch the magical fairytale of Giselle turn into a beautiful eye-opener with ‘Disenchanted’, on Disney+ Hotstar.
