Akshay Kumar commemorates 106th anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre with solemn tribute

Date:

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar marked the 106th anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre by sharing an evocative tribute to the martyrs who perished during one of the most harrowing atrocities of India’s colonial past.

Taking to Instagram, the actor posted a stirring video captioned with the words, “Not forgotten, not forgiven.”

Kumar’s remembrance comes at a time when he is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming historical drama “Kesari Chapter 2”, which chronicles the life of C Sankaran Nair, a distinguished lawyer and former president of the Indian National Congress.

His tribute resonates with the enduring pain and historical significance of the massacre that occurred on April 13, 1919, coinciding with the festival of Baisakhi, when British forces opened fire on a peaceful assembly, killing hundreds and injuring thousands of unarmed civilians.

Bankrolled by Dharma Productions, in association with Cape of Good Films and Leo Kedia Collective, helmed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is scheduled for release in cinemas April 18.
