Double delight for Zee Studios at Sydney Film Festival

Date:

Zee Studios has been successfully and consistently carving a niche for Indian storytelling globally with back-to-back premieres and screenings in the international festival circuit.

This time, the entertainment powerhouse has scored a double delight with ‘Joram’ and ‘Kennedy’s inclusion at the distinguished Sydney Film Festival. While the Manoj Bajpayee-starrer ‘Joram’ is in the official competition, Rahul Bhat-starrer, Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Kennedy’ shall be screened at the festival.

Sydney Film Festival will be held from June 7-15.

Shariq Patel, CBO, Zee Studios, added, “‘Joram’ and ‘Kennedy’ are both unique stories. It has been a delight collaborating with such great talent i.e., Anurag Kashyap and Devashish Makhija. It’s a matter of great honour that films by Zee Studios are reaching the most coveted global film festivals. After Rotterdam, Cannes and Berlin we now look forward to wowing the audiences in Sydney.”

Anurag Kashyap, Director, and Producer, ‘Good Bad Films,’ further stated, “I am so happy that Kennedy will be shown next at Sydney after Cannes, and on top of that, I will finally get to attend the beautiful festival. It’s going to be a beautiful journey for Kennedy.”

Devashish Makhija, Director and Producer from ‘Makhija Films’ added, “For ‘JORAM’ to be selected in the Main Competition at Australia’s biggest – the Sydney Film Festival – becomes more special since we find great synergies between the larger sustainability concerns of the festival and JORAM’s own narrative that seeks to question the cost of development and the inequalities of justice. It feels like labour and passion rewarded as we at Makhija films watch JORAM continue to find deep resonance amongst curators and audiences of the best in World Cinema.”

While ‘Joram’ has earlier premiered earlier at the prestigious IFFR 2023, ‘Kennedy’ is all set to premiere at Festival De Cannes later this month.
