I’ve always been drawn to complex characters: Venkatesh Daggubati on ‘Rana Naidu’

Date:

Venkatesh Daggubati, one of the most sought-after actors in the Indian film industry, is all set to make his streaming debut with the upcoming Netflix series ‘Rana Naidu’.

The action crime drama promises to be a thrilling watch for fans of the genre.

For Venkatesh Daggubati, ‘Rana Naidu’ marks a significant milestone in his career as it’s not just his first foray into the world of long-format storytelling, but also his on-screen debut with his nephew, Rana Daggubati. The actor, who is known for his versatility and impressive range, will be seen essaying the role of a Naga Naidu in the series. He locks horns with his nephew Rana Daggubati as both of them take on the role of troubled father and son.

Speaking candidly about his experience working on the show and how he’s had to adapt to the streaming format, Venkatesh said in a statement, “It’s been an exciting journey for me so far. Working on a series is very different from working on a film, and it took some time for me to get used to the pace and style of the storytelling,” he shared.

The actor went on to reveal that playing a negative character was a refreshing change of pace for him and allowed him to explore new facets of his craft.

“I’ve always been drawn to complex characters, and my role in ‘Rana Naidu’ is no different. It’s challenging to play a character that’s so different from who you are as a person, but it’s also incredibly rewarding,” he shared.

Venkatesh also spoke about the joy of sharing the screen space with his nephew Rana.

“It was definitely hard to be pitted against him (Rana) but it challenged me as an actor. Off-screen we have a great equation and I can say more than being uncle and nephew, we are like friends. But on-screen, to bring out the troubled equation and hatred for each other as the father-son duo was tough! That’s the most gratifying part of this craft – as an actor, one gets to experience & bring alive situations and emotions that one has not experienced so far, so that the audience can relate to the character. This was definitely a new endeavour for both of us but we worked together and took cues from each other to bring our characters to life,” he added.

‘Rana Naidu’ showcases Venkatesh Daggubati in a brand new light and gives audiences a chance to see him flex his acting muscles like never before. With its gripping storyline, high-octane action sequences, and powerhouse performances, the series is poised to be a must-watch for anyone who loves a good crime drama.

Will Naga be able to reunite with his family or will he prove to be his son Rana’s ultimate rival?

“Rana Naidu” will stream on Netflix from March 10.
