Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy protests fuel price hike with bicycle ride

Agartala, 22nd May 2026: In a symbolic protest against the continuous rise in petrol and diesel prices, Congress MLA from Noabonalipur constituency Gopal Chandra Roy staged a unique demonstration on Friday. To highlight the plight of common citizens, he rode a bicycle from his residence to the State Guest House in Agartala.

Speaking to the media, Roy said the escalating fuel costs are severely impacting daily life. With transportation expenses soaring, the prices of essential commodities have also gone unchecked, causing immense hardship for middle- and lower-income families.

He further noted that the burden is not limited to vehicle owners alone. Farmers, small traders, and wage earners across society are suffering due to the fuel price surge. Roy urged the government to take immediate and effective measures to provide relief.The MLA emphasized that the Congress party has always stood by the interests of the people and will continue its protest programs against the price hike in the future.
