100-Day Tuberculosis Eradication Campaign Underway in Sepahijala District

Agartala, 6th March 2025:  As part of the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program, a 100-day campaign has been launched in Sepahijala district from December 7, 2024, and will continue until March 17, 2025. The initiative aims to intensify efforts to detect and treat tuberculosis (TB) cases in the district.

Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal shared the latest updates at a press conference today, highlighting the progress of the campaign.

According to him, 687 eradication camps have been held so far, and a total of 1,01,235 people have been tested for TB. Additionally, X-rays of 6,311 individuals and NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) of 1,872 people have been conducted to ensure accurate diagnosis.

As a result of these extensive screenings, 47 individuals in the district have been diagnosed with tuberculosis.

The District Magistrate assured that necessary measures have already been taken to provide them with appropriate treatment. He further informed that 18,436 people have been registered on the eradication portal as part of the awareness and monitoring drive.

Dr. Jaiswal emphasized that tuberculosis is a curable disease if medical advice is strictly followed. He urged people from all sections of society to come forward in the fight against TB and contribute to the goal of making the state and the country tuberculosis-free.

The press conference was attended by District Chief Health Officer Dr. Debashis Das, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Deep Kumar Debbarma, and other officials who reiterated the importance of community participation in eliminating TB.

The 100-day campaign continues to make significant strides, bringing Sepahijala closer to achieving its goal of eradicating tuberculosis and ensuring better public health outcomes.
