Agartala, 7th October 2026 :   The Tripura Cabinet has approved a series of decisions, including recruitment of 1,061 teachers, creation of 213 posts under Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and establishment of a Staff Selection Commission for Group-B, Group-C and Group-D recruitment.

Cabinet Spokesperson and Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said 700 Graduate Teachers (STGT) for Classes IX-X would be recruited under the Directorate of Secondary Education. Another 361 teachers—75 Graduate Teachers and 286 Undergraduate Teachers—will be appointed under Elementary Education.

“The process will begin very soon,” Chowdhury said, describing the recruitment as an important opportunity for unemployed job seekers.

The Cabinet also approved the creation and filling of 213 posts in AMC, covering engineering, planning, accounts, electrical, surveying, inspection, computer and other services.

Announcing the proposed Staff Selection Commission, Tripura, Chowdhury said it would conduct examinations for Group-B, C and D posts and function as an autonomous commission with its own structure and procedures. “A Staff Selection Commission is being formed in our state too, to ensure transparency in recruitment,” he said.

For Sharadotsav 2026, the government will distribute 1 kg sugar, 2 kg maida and 500 grams suji free to each of the state’s 9.92 lakh ration card holders. The requirement is estimated at 992 MT sugar, 1,984 MT maida and 243 MT suji, costing around ₹9.35-9.85 crore.

Other Cabinet decisions include doubling the sitting allowance of SC Welfare sub-committee chairmen and members from ₹100 to ₹200, and increasing the Minority Welfare boarding-house stipend from ₹65 to ₹100 per student per day.

The Cabinet also approved recruitment of eight LDCs under the Science and Technology Department.

Chowdhury said temporary disruption in regular sugar supply was linked to technical issues concerning Central subsidies and that the matter would be reviewed after Puja.
