Agartala, 1st July 2024:  The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Agartala has detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including children, at the Agartala Railway Station on Monday. This follows the apprehension of 39 Bangladeshi nationals and five Indian touts in the past month.

Tapas Das, Officer-In-Charge of the GRP, informed reporters that the detentions on Monday were based on a tip-off received late Sunday night about illegal Bangladeshi nationals at the railway station planning to travel to various destinations.

“We have detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals along with their children. Preliminary interrogation reveals they entered Tripura illegally and without valid documents, intending to travel by train. A case has been filed, and they will be produced before the court,” said Das.

He also mentioned that last month, the GRP detained 39 Bangladeshi nationals, including five children, and five Indian touts. The Indian touts are currently being interrogated for further evidence.
