Agartala, 9th August 2026: Police recovered a large quantity of ganja allegedly hidden underground during a raid at Manaipathar under P.R. Bari police station in South Tripura on Sunday. Two persons, identified as house owner Dulal Majumder and his son Sagar Majumder, were arrested in connection with the seizure.
According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, a team led by SI Ratan Ravi Das, P.R. Bari police station OC P.R. Bari, SIs Niran Debbarma and Bikash Debnath, along with the DCM of Belonia and the Udaipur District Mobile Forensic Team, conducted a search at Dulal Majumder’s residence in the Manaipathar area.
During the search, investigators reportedly dug up the floor of a room and recovered four plastic drums concealed beneath the ground. The dried ganja stored inside the drums weighed approximately 122.100 kg, police said.
Following completion of the required legal procedures for the search and seizure, the recovered ganja along with a vehicle bearing registration number TR-08-E-0656 was seized.
Dulal Majumder and his son Sagar Majumder were arrested from the spot. A case, numbered 30/2026, has been registered at P.R. Bari police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, including Sections 18(ii), 20 and 29.
Police have launched a further investigation to trace the source of the seized ganja, identify any other persons allegedly involved in its transportation or trafficking, and determine the role of the seized vehicle in the suspected illegal activity.
