13-year-old girl allegedly abducted at Kanchanmala, family files police complaint

Date:

Agartala, 28th July 2026 :   A 13-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from the Kanchanmala area under Amtali Police Station on Monday, triggering concern among local residents.

According to the family, the Class VII student left her home near Kanchanmala Kar Chowmuhani at around 10:30 am to attend Lakshichhara Ramkrishna Uchhataram Secondary School but did not return home in the evening. After an extensive search failed to trace her, her father, a lorry driver, lodged a complaint at Amtali Police Station on Monday night.

Speaking to reporters, the father alleged that two unidentified youths had been harassing the family through phone calls and text messages. He claimed the duo had planned the abduction in advance and lured his daughter away while she was on her way to school.

Police have registered the complaint and assured the family that necessary steps are being taken to trace and rescue the missing girl. Meanwhile, the family and local residents have urged the police to act swiftly to rescue the minor and arrest those responsible.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of children and the increasing number of crimes involving minors in the state.
