Agartala, November 21: A 14-year-old girl from Udaipur, Meghalaya, ended her life by consuming poison after a quarrel with her boyfriend on Monday. The girl, identified as Rezwana Parveen, was the only daughter of Saurabh Kazi, a resident of Khilpara area of Udaipur. She was a brilliant student of Udaipur English Medium School.
According to sources, Parveen had an argument with her boyfriend, who was also a student of the same school, around Monday noon. She then swallowed some plant medicine that was kept in her house without informing anyone in her family. Her mother found her lying unconscious and rushed her to Gomti District Hospital. The doctors there referred her to GB Hospital for better treatment. However, Parveen succumbed to the poison around today at 2 am, leaving her parents and relatives in shock and grief.
Parveen’s family tried to hide her suicide and did not inform the police. Her body was taken to her Dakshinpara home after post-mortem on Tuesday, where her relatives broke down in tears. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the matter. They are also trying to contact Parveen’s boyfriend and his family for questioning.
