Agartala, 18th February 2024: In a surprising turn of events, sixteen power tiller machines, originally allotted to farmers in Sabroom Daulbari area, were discovered in a house near the Indo-Bangla international border.
The recovery took place at the residence of Ratan Dhar in Nagashitila, Thaibung village panchayat area, under Satchand R.D. block, Sabroom sub-division.
Local authorities, including the Sabroom police station, are actively investigating the incident to determine how the government-assigned power tillers ended up in the possession of an individual. The power tillers were reportedly part of the 15 government allotments for farmers in the region.
Satchand Agri Sub-Division Officer-in-Charge, S.A. Jiten Tripura, and Assistant Committee Chairman Jaba Deb have denied any connection to the recovered power tillers, emphasizing that the bullets found are not property belonging to their office.
This discovery has raised concerns among farmers in the Sabroom sub-division, questioning the accountability of beneficiaries who allegedly sell government-provided equipment under the radar. It highlights the need for a thorough investigation into the distribution and monitoring of such essential agricultural machinery to prevent misuse and ensure that these resources reach the intended recipients. Authorities are urged to take swift action to address the issue and safeguard the welfare of the farming community in the region.
