Agartala, August 20: A picnic outing turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when a 19-year-old youth lost his life prematurely in Chabimura under the Amarpur sub-division. The unfortunate incident took place as Snehasish Rudra Pal, the son of Haradhan Rudra Pal hailing from Birbal Das Para within the Amarpur sub-division, was enjoying a day out with friends at Chabimura, a popular tourist destination within the same sub-division.

During the picnic, Snehasish tragically drowned in the Gomati River while taking a bath, sending shockwaves through the group of friends. His companions immediately attempted to rescue him but were unable to prevent the unfortunate loss.

Upon being alerted to the incident, Amarpur’s fire brigade personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations. Assistance from disaster management arrived approximately two hours later, around 5:00 p.m. Despite their efforts, Snehasish could not be revived.

The attending doctor at the hospital confirmed Snehasish’s demise and announced that the body would be released to the family following a scheduled post-mortem examination on Monday.

The youth is a second-year College student and was also employed as a permanent staff member at a local drugstore near Amarpur Hospital. Family members, devastated by the tragic news, rushed to the hospital where grief and sorrow filled the premises.
