2 held with cannabis worth Rs 3 lakh at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala, 14th March 2026:   Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested with a large quantity of cannabis at Agartala Railway Station this afternoon. The Government Railway Police (GRP) conducted the operation in the station’s parking zone, leading to the arrests.

According to police sources, routine checks were being carried out at the station when officers noticed two men loitering suspiciously with a trolley and bags in the parking area. Upon searching their belongings, police recovered 26.575 kilograms of cannabis. The suspects were immediately taken into custody and brought to the GRP police station at Agartala Railway Station.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Kadir, a resident of Indira Nagar under Melaghar police station, and Dipak Sarkar, from Palatana in Udaipur subdivision.

Police have filed a case against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigators are interrogating the accused to determine whether others are involved in the smuggling network. The seized cannabis is estimated to have a black-market value of around Rs 3 lakh, officials said.
