2022 STGT candidates stage protest, demand results and recruitment

Date:

Agartala, 28th October 2026 : Candidates of the 2022 Selection Test for Graduate Teachers (STGT) staged a protest outside the Shiksha Bhavan here on Wednesday, demanding immediate publication of their examination results and commencement of the recruitment process after years of uncertainty.

The protesting candidates sat on the road, urging Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha, who also holds the Education portfolio, to intervene and resolve the long-pending issue. They expressed frustration over the delay, pointing out that the recruitment process for the 2025 STGT examination had already been completed, while candidates from the 2022 examination continued to wait.

The candidates alleged that they had been visiting the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), office repeatedly for the past five years but had received no satisfactory response from the authorities.

“We appeared for the examination following an official notification, and we have every right to know our results. Five years is a long time in anyone’s life, yet we are still waiting without any concrete information,” a protesting candidate said.

They referred to previous High Court proceedings, claiming that no stay order prevented the declaration of results or initiation of recruitment. They also questioned the government’s position regarding a Special Leave Petition (SLP) reportedly filed in the Supreme Court, stating that candidates had not been clearly informed about its grounds or implications.

The protesters further argued that subsequent STGT examinations had been conducted and appointments made, while their recruitment remained stalled. They maintained that candidates should not suffer because of alleged procedural errors by the department.

“We worked hard and made significant sacrifices to prepare for these examinations. We followed the government’s notification and rules. What is our fault? Are we not the children of Tripura?” another candidate asked.

The candidates appealed to the Chief Minister and Education Department authorities to provide a clear explanation and take immediate steps to publish the results and begin recruitment. They warned that continued uncertainty was causing severe frustration among aspirants who had waited years for an opportunity to secure employment.
