Agartala, December 26: DBT-NER Advance level Institutional Biotech Hub Phase II organized 21 days Faculty development programe on “Application of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics in Fisheries & Life Science” at College of Fisheries, CAU (I), Lembucherra, and Tripura. The programe started on 6th December 2023 and was attended by 29 nos. of trainees from different Colleges of Tripura as well as other states including Ph.D students of COF, CAU.
Dr. K Sasikumar, IFS, Secretary for Science, Technology & environment, Govt. of Tripura inaugurated the Programme as Chief Guest and Prof. T.K Maity Principle College of Agriculture, Tripura was the Guest of honour. Prof. Ratan Kr. Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, has given brief introduction about the college regarding its journey and involvement in developing manpower in the field Science and technology during the 21 days programme.
During the 21 days training programme 44 lecture were taken by the external experts from various field like Fisheries, Agriculture, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Health management and also by the college faculties, 10 hands on practical class were also conducted during the training.
Experts from premier ICAR Institutes like CIFE, CIFA, CMFRI, CIFT, NBFGR, ICAR Tripura Centre and other premier Institutes like IIT Kharagpur, RLB CAU, RP CAU, TU delivered lectures and interacted with participants.
The training programme was concluded on 26th December, 2023. Dr. B.P. Mohanty, ADG Inland Fisheries, ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director ATARI-VII, Umiam, Meghalaya, Dr. L.M. Garnayak, Director Research, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Tripura, released book compiled of all the lectures, addressed to the participants and distributed certificates.
Prof. Sagar Chandra Mandal, HoD, FGR department and Coordinator of the programme welcomed the guests and Dr. Janmejay Parhi, Course Director of the programme briefed the programme. The dignitaries shared their valuable opinion about the application of the modern technologies. Programme was ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. Bahni Dhar, Coordinator of the training.
