Agartala, 18th June 2024:   In a significant stride towards a drug-free Tripura, the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Agartala has made a commendable breakthrough. Acting on confidential intelligence, the GRP conducted a targeted raid at Agartala railway station, Badharghat resulting in the confiscation of 21 kilograms of dry cannabis.

Tapas Das, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of GRP police station, detailed that the operation was premised on credible tips regarding a youth’s intent to smuggle the contraband out of the state via train. The successful raid not only led to the seizure but also the apprehension of the suspect.

OC Das further revealed that initial interrogations have uncovered plans to transport the cannabis to Patna and Delhi for sale. The accused has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
