Agartala, 8th May 2025 : The second National Lok Adalat of the year will be held across Tripura on Saturday, May 10, facilitating the expedited resolution of 21,410 cases. The initiative will take place at the Tripura High Court and in district and sub-divisional courts throughout the state, with proceedings conducted across 40 designated benches.
According to official figures, the cases include: 339 related to motor accident compensation, 211 marital dispute cases, 5,457 bank loan repayment disputes, 1,000 BSNL bill payment cases, 14,264 conciliatory criminal disputes under the MB Act, TP Act, TG Act, and Excise Act, 63 cheque bounce cases (NI Act), 9 consumer rights cases, 48 electricity bill disputes, and 8 employment-related cases.
Authorities have already issued notices to the involved parties, allowing for pre-conciliation efforts since May 5 through the offices of the District and Sub-Division Legal Services Authorities. The legal aid network, “Odhikar Mitra” is assisting notified individuals in navigating the settlement process.
Justice Amarnath Goud Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority has issued directives to ensure the success of the National Lok Adalat. Member-Secretary Jhuma Dutta Chowdhury has urged individuals to take advantage of this opportunity for swift and cost-free case resolution.
The National Lok Adalat is part of an ongoing initiative to promote accessible and efficient legal recourse, reinforcing the judiciary’s commitment to expedited justice.
