Agartala, 19th October 2025: The revered Tripura Sundari Temple in Matabari is set to hold a three-day Diwali Festival and Fair from October 20 to 22. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will formally inaugurate the celebrations, which are expected to draw thousands of devotees and visitors.
On the opening evening, the Chief Minister will participate in the Kalyan Aarti at the banks of Kalyan Sagar, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp at 5:30 PM at the Dhanyamanik Open Stage to mark the fair’s commencement.
This year’s fair will feature 19 stalls from various government departments. To manage the anticipated crowd, 800 volunteers will be deployed, and separate entry and exit routes have been designated for temple visitors.
The festivities will be broadcast live across Tripura’s districts via LED screens, with two large screens also installed within the fairgrounds for on-site viewing. A major highlight will be the Kalyan Aarti, beginning on Diwali day, alongside elaborate lighting from the Matabari temple complex to the Subhash Bridge in Udaipur. The temple will also be adorned with fresh floral decorations.
To ensure visitor comfort, arrangements for drinking water and sanitation facilities have been made. Additionally, 620 shop spaces have been allocated to vendors. Security will be overseen by TSR personnel, local police, Quick Response Teams, fire services, and medical staff.
Speaking to media personnel yesterday at the temple premises, festival committee chairman and local MLA Abhishek Debroy shared key details of the program.
Gomati District Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar stated that surveillance measures have been intensified to prevent untoward incidents. The fairgrounds will be monitored round-the-clock through 74 CCTV cameras, supported by police watchtowers, command posts, and booths.
The press briefing was attended by Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Debol Debroy, District Magistrate Rinku Lather, and Ajay Dey, Deputy Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs department.
MLA Abhishek Debroy urged all stakeholders to work collectively to ensure the smooth conduct of this culturally significant Diwali celebration and fair.
