Agartala, 19th January 2025:   In a significant anti-drug operation, the Tripura Police recovered 303 kg of dry ganja from the house of notorious drug dealer Prabir Bhowmik in the Ramchhara area under Sepahijala district.

The recovery was made based on a secret tip-off, but the accused fled the scene before police could apprehend him.

The operation, led by Bishalgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sanjit Sen, uncovered five large drums filled with dry ganja hidden underground in Prabir Bhowmik’s premises. Sources revealed that the dealer had packed the contraband and was preparing to smuggle it out of the state.

The raid was conducted by a team comprising DSP DIB-Keshab Hari Jamatia, Bishalgarh Police Station Inspector Bidya Debbarma, Sub-Inspector Mridul Majumdar, women police personnel, and TSR jawans. The seized ganja was safely transported to Vishalgarh police station, where it is being held as evidence.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against Prabir Bhowmik (Case No. 07/2025 BLG). Efforts are underway to track down and arrest the accused.

Bishalgarh Subdivision Police Officer Dulal Dutta, addressing the media, stated, “This operation was crucial in our ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. We are committed to eradicating this menace and ensuring the safety of our communities.”

Further investigations are ongoing to trace the network behind the smuggling operation.
