Agartala, 28th August 2025: Tension gripped Khayerpur this morning after the bloodied body of a 32-year-old man was found floating in a pond near his residence. The deceased has been identified as Amit Banik, a local resident who had reportedly been missing since last night.
According to family members, Amit had been mentally unwell since birth. They suspect he may have wandered out unnoticed during the night and accidentally fallen into the pond, sustaining a fatal head injury. His body was spotted early in the morning by relatives, who, with help from locals, retrieved it from the water.
He was rushed to GBP Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Visible head injuries were noted, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. While the family maintains it was a tragic accident, authorities have not ruled out other possibilities.
