Agartala, 13th January 2025: The 5-Khayerpur Anchal Committee organized a protest today in front of the Agartala Circuit House, demanding the inclusion of four village committees from old Agartala into the Belbari block. The committees in question are from Burdwan Thakur Para, Dhupchhara, West Radhamohanpur and Radhamohanpur villages.
The protest took place at the foot of Gandhiji’s statue, with participants sitting on a dharna to voice their demands. The 5-Khayerpur Anchal Committee has been advocating for this change, asserting that it is crucial for the development and administration of these villages.
“The inclusion of these village committees in the Belbari RD block is a long-standing demand. We are here to ensure that our voices are heard,” said a spokesperson for the protesters. “We are prepared to continue our protest until our demands are met. If necessary, we will organize larger demonstrations,” they added
The protesters emphasized their commitment to achieving their rights through today’s protest. “This dharna is a clear message that we will take all necessary steps to secure our rightful demands,” the spokesperson added.
