Agartala, 21st June 2025: In a major drug haul, around 51 kilograms of dried ganja was recovered from the residence of one Ranbir Debbarma in the Niran Para area of Makam Bari under Sidhai Police Station today wee hours.
Acting on a secret tip-off, police conducted the raid and found the contraband hidden in five plastic bags. The estimated market value of the seized ganja is around Rs 4 lakh.
The operation was jointly conducted by Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sabyasachi Debnath, Sidhai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mangesh Patari, and a team of police personnel along with CRPF and TSR jawans.
According to OC Mangesh Patari, the house owner, Ranbir Debbarma (35), managed to flee during the raid. A case has been registered under Sections 20(B)(ii)(C), 25, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the absconding accused and others.
Efforts are on to trace and arrest the culprits, police said.
