58th Engineers’ Day Celebrated in Tripura, Minister Urges Engineers to Lead Nation’s Progress

Agartala, 15th September 2025:   Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman today inaugurated a Prabhat Ferry in front of Ujjayant Palace to mark the 58th Engineers’ Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna and renowned engineer M. Visvesvaraya.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Works and The Institution of Engineers (India), Tripura State Branch. Addressing the gathering, the Minister described Visvesvaraya as a visionary thinker and one of the architects of modern India’s industrialization.

“By implementing the dream of modern industrialization, he taught us that hard work, discipline and innovative thinking can take the nation forward,” Barman said. He added that engineers play a crucial role in building infrastructure such as dams and railways, and must also lead in realizing national visions like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Digital India and Start-up India.

Chief Engineer of PWD Rajiv Debbarma and OSD to the Chief Minister, Engineer Paramanand Sarkar Banerjee, were also present at the programme.
