Agartala, 2nd May 2025:  A shocking case of alleged poisoning has unfolded in the Kathalia Mura area of Sonamura police station leaving 70 ducks dead and sparking outrage among the locals. The accusations point to pond owner Idu Mia, who is said to have acted out of a previous enmity.

According to reports, Mia had a dispute with seven women, owners of the deceased ducks over the threshing of rice using a machine. It is alleged that in retaliation, Mia poisoned his pond, leading to the mass duck deaths.

The incident quickly created a stir in the area with the affected women seeking justice. They took the dead ducks to a panchayat member, who then referred the matter to the Upa-Pradhan of Grantali gram panchayat. Upon inquiry, Mia’s brother assured that they would resolve the issue.

However, concerns remain regarding whether the owners will receive fair compensation for their loss. As local authorities monitor the situation, residents await a resolution to this unsettling matter.
