70-year old man recovered from well at Dharmanagar

Agartala, 13th May 2024: The body of a 70-year-old man was recovered from a well that has triggered an intense reaction among the residents of Haflong Ward No.4 in Dharmanagar. The deceased identified as Nirjan Nath was reported missing earlier on Monday prompting an immediate search.

The Dharmanagar Fire department received the distressing news in the early hours of Monday, leading to a swift operation by the fire brigade personnel who located and extracted the body from the well situated near the victim’s residence. The body was subsequently transported to the district hospital for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.

Authorities have yet to determine whether the incident was a case of suicide or foul play. The police have initiated an investigation into this unusual death, treating it with the utmost seriousness.

Family members are in a state of grief and confusion, with the deceased’s son recounting that his father had been inactive for the past five or six years, leading a peaceful life without any domestic disputes. He also mentioned that the deceased’s siblings had relocated to Kolkata, leaving Nath to reside alone.
