Agartala: September 25. The economic growth rate of Tripura is 8.89 percent in the financial year 2022-23, said Abhishek Chandra Special Secretary of Planning (Statistics) Department today.
Addressing a press conference today, Chandra said that the 79th round of National Sample Survey has been successfully completed in the state.
“The survey was conducted by collecting samples from 288 rural and 152 urban areas of 8 districts of the state on the Comprehensive Annual Modular Survey and AYUSH. The survey was conducted from July 1, 2022 to June 31, 2023 through Computer Aided Personal Interview”, he said.
He said, Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) or state income is the most important indicator for measuring economic development, growth, average per-capita income.
“According to the advance estimate, the economic growth rate of the state is 8.89 percent in the financial year 2022-23 while the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is Rs 72,635.62 crore and the average per capita income in the state is Rs 1.59 lakh. According to the advance estimates for the financial year 2022-23, the primary sector has a contribution of 44.35 per cent, secondary sector 10.50 per cent and tertiary sector 45.15 per cent contribution to GSDP”, said the official.
In the press conference, the Special Secretary said that various publications are regularly published by the department to highlight the socio-economic development of Tripura.
The Special Secretary also said that the Government of India’s Support for Statistical Streamlining project is running in the state to collect and provide quality and timely data.
“Under this project MoU has been signed with Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata for survey work for data collection as well as creation of dynamic web portal in the state”, he informed.Planning (Statistics) Department Director Nagendra Debvarma and Additional Director Arup Kumar Chand were present at the press conference.
