Agartala, February 16, 2023: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kiran Gitte on Thursday said that a total percentage of around 92 percent of votes have been recorded barring a few sporadic incidents reported in different parts of the state.
Speaking to media persons here at West Tripura district’s DM office on Thursday evening, Gitte said “The police personnel and central paramilitary armed forces deployed nearby have initiated timely measures on the minor harassment faced by the electorates while heading towards polling stations. Not more than 4 to 5 stray incidents reported across the state.”
“A total of five FIRs have been registered and six persons injured. Reports arrived that political supporters were obstructed at some places and an incident of physical assault has taken place at Kakraban-Salgarh assembly constituency”, the Inspector General (Crime) of Tripura Police, GS Rao said.
“As many as 6 thousand TSR jawans, 4,700 police personnel and 400 companies of CAPFs were deployed in and around 3,337 polling stations. The strong rooms and counting halls are located at 27 centres”, Gitte added.
The CEO further said “We have followed the advice of CEC Rajiv Kumar for conducting free, fair, peaceful and transparent election. I am hopeful that this election would be one of the finest election conducted in Tripura throughout the nation.”
The election was contested by BJP-IPFT in 55 and 5 seats, respectively, Left Front-Congress in 47 and 13 seats, respectively and TIPRA Motha in 42 seats. Apart from them, Trinamool Congress fielded candidates in 28 seats.
