Agartala, 11th January 2026: A devastating fire broke out this morning at the girls’ hostel of Dasharath Deb Memorial Residential Higher Secondary School in Sabroom subdivision, sparking panic among the students.
Fire service personnel rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert and managed to bring the blaze under control after prolonged efforts. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have originated from a short circuit.
The incident occurred in the hostel located on the second floor of the school building. The flames destroyed students’ belongings including books, notebooks, clothes, daily essentials, and even their beds.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported among the students. School authorities and local administration have begun assessing the extent of the damage and are working to provide necessary support to the affected students.
