Agartala, July 07, 2023: The increasing negligence exhibited by the authorities at Tripura University has brought several issues to light, ultimately affecting students’ academic performance. Students have been facing significant challenges due to delayed admission processes in general degree colleges over the past few years. Moreover, there is a severe shortage of professors, and the college admission fees have tripled this year compared to the previous year.

In response, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has taken a stand. They participated in a protest in front of Tripura University on Friday, demanding necessary reforms. The key demands include rectifying the academic calendar of universities, streamlining the admission process, reducing college and university admission fees, increasing the number of available seats, ensuring campus safety and preventing incidents of physical abuse. As part of their efforts, the ABVP Tripura region submitted a memorandum with ten specific demands to the Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University.

The event, known as the “University Encirclement,” witnessed participation from students representing various regions of the state. A delegation from the protest will deliver the memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor, urging swift implementation of the demands in the best interest of the students in the state. As a result of the protest, traffic congestion was experienced on the national highway in front of the university, while students staged a sit-in protest at the main gate.

The ABVP aims to draw attention to the pressing issues faced by students in Tripura and bring about much-needed changes. By raising their voice and advocating for their rights, they seek to ensure a better educational environment and brighter prospects for the students of the state. It is essential for the authorities to address these concerns promptly and work towards resolving the challenges faced by students, thus fostering an atmosphere conducive to learning and growth.
