Agartala, 30th August 2026 : Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder today said that ongoing civic and infrastructure works in the city will be completed before Durga Puja to ensure a hassle-free experience for visitors.
Speaking about the preparations, Majumder said that Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and he had already assured that the ongoing works would be completed before the Puja festivities.
“People from across the state come to Agartala during Durga Puja. Keeping this in mind, the PWD and Agartala Municipal Corporation are working on various city-centric issues so that visitors can enjoy the festival properly and without inconvenience,” the Mayor said.
He said several development works, including underground cable installation and road construction and repair, are currently underway across the city. The AMC is coordinating with the concerned departments to ensure that the works are completed within the stipulated time.
Majumder also said that the civic body is focusing on easing traffic congestion in Agartala, which increases significantly during the Puja season due to the large influx of people and vehicles.
“We will try our best to complete all the ongoing works before Durga Puja. At the same time, we will take necessary steps to address traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement across the city,” he said.
The Mayor said the civic authorities are making coordinated efforts with the PWD and other concerned departments to improve road conditions and civic infrastructure ahead of the festival.
