Agartala, October 25: The city of Agartala is all set to host the third edition of the Durga Puja carnival on Thursday evening. The carnival, organized by the ICA department in collaboration with Agartala Municipal Corporation, will showcase the cultural diversity and creativity of the puja organizers and social groups.
The main stage of the carnival will be set up in front of the City Centre. The carnival will feature a parade of floats, tableaux, and cultural performances by various puja committees and organizations. The organizers claim that more participants will join the carnival this year than the previous years. They have held several meetings with the puja organizers and social groups to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
Mayor Dipak Majumder said that the carnival is a matter of pride and joy for the city. He said that mainly puja organizers from the city and its suburbs will participate in the carnival. He also said that all the preparations for the carnival are final and only the execution is left.
However, the carnival also poses a challenge for the traffic management in the city. In the past years, the carnival has caused severe traffic congestion and chaos in Agartala. Many commuters have faced difficulties in reaching their destinations due to the closure of roads and diversion of vehicles. The airport service has also been affected by the excessive traffic. The administration has not yet announced any measures to deal with this issue.
The citizens of Agartala have expressed mixed feelings about the carnival. While some are excited to witness the spectacle, others are concerned about the disruption of public life. They hope that the administration will take adequate steps to ensure that the carnival does not cause any inconvenience to the common people. They also hope that the carnival will be a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
