Agartala, 26th November 2025: A disturbing incident unfolded at Agartala Government Dental College when three hospital staff members were trapped inside a lift for nearly one and a half hours. According to reports, a nursing officer who was among those trapped fell unconscious due to breathing difficulties during the ordeal.
Fire service personnel stated that there was no lift operator present at the time of the incident. Allegations have surfaced against the hospital authorities for operating the lift without an operator, in violation of safety regulations.
As minutes passed without any administrative response or action, the situation grew more critical. Finally, after receiving the alert, firefighters rushed to the spot and forcibly opened the lift doors to rescue the three trapped individuals. They were immediately provided with medical treatment.
The incident has sparked widespread anger among hospital staff and the public, with many accusing the hospital of severe negligence in safety and maintenance. The silence of the hospital administration and their failure to provide any explanation following the incident has raised serious questions about transparency and safety standards in the healthcare system.
